Louisiana passenger alleges she was injured in fall on Carnival ship

Cruise 07

MIAMI – A cruise passenger from Louisiana alleges she was injured while aboard the Carnival Dream.

Sheila Owens filed a complaint on March 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 6, 2015, when she was descending the stairs onto the Serenity Deck, she slipped and fell on the deck and sustained serious injuries to her shoulder. The plaintiff holds Carnival Cruise Lines responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care for the safety of its passengers, failed to provide trained personnel to safely assist passengers, failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition and failed to properly train and instruct employees with regards to maintaining high traffic areas.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for damages, costs, interest, prejudgment interest, attorneys' fees and for all such other relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Zachary D. Bodenheimer and Judd G. Rosen of Goldberg & Rosen PA in Miami.
