MIAMI – A cruise passenger alleges she was injured while aboard the Carnival Ecstasy.
Callie Bass filed a complaint on March 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines Inc., citing alleged breach of duty, failure to warn and negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 29, she slipped and fell while walking into a passenger elevator causing injuries to her knee, neck and back. The plaintiff holds Carnival Cruise Lines Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn passengers of the dangers of walking into an elevator in regards to other passengers spilling drinks, failed to have a safe walking surface, failed to install a non-slip surface, failed to properly illuminate the area and failed to keep the area clean and dry.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, costs and prejudgment interest. She is represented by Paul M. Hoffman of Paul M. Hoffman PA in Fort Lauderdale.
