TAMPA – Two Florida residents are suing a debt collection company over allegations it contacted them without their consent.
Sundaye Showers and Robert Dunne Jr. filed a complaint on March 15 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Prog Leasing LLC, doing business as Progressive Leasing, alleging that the debt collector violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they continued to receive unwanted telephone calls despite their requests for the defendant to cease calling them. The plaintiffs hold Prog Leasing responsible because the defendant allegedly made numerous non-emergency calls using an automated telephone dialing system or an artificial or prerecorded voice messages.
The plaintiffs seek the following: an order enjoining defendant from placing further telephone calls to their cellular telephone numbers; compensation for actual and statutory damages; attorney’s fees and costs; and any other equitable relief that the court may deem appropriate. They are represented by Sharina Romano of Hyslip & Taylor LLC LPA in Chicago.
