Bartender sues former employer alleging she wasn't paid minimum wage

Money

JACKSONVILLE – A former bartender is accusing a Jacksonville business of not paying wages.

Cynthia M. Gibson filed a complaint on March 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against M.T. Productions in Jacksonville Inc., doing business as Thee Officers Club, citing violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between January 2015 and Oct. 29, 2015, she did not received any wages during the first three months of her employment. Although she was receiving an hourly rate of $5.03 per hour after three months, she did not receive any wages for all hours worked in excess of 28 hours per week. The plaintiff holds the Thee Officers Club responsible because the defendant allegedly willfully chose not to pay her a minimum wage rate.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for at least the minimum wage rate for all hours worked during her employment, double the sum in liquidated damages, attorneys' fees and costs and any further relief that the court may deem just and appropriate. She is represented by Dennis A Creed III and Joseph Odato of Feldman Law Group PA in Tampa.
