An employee is suing former employer for alleged underpayment of wages

Overtime clock

ORLANDO — A man who says he worked as a restaurant cook for three years is suing his former employer, claiming violation of overtime pay and minimum wage laws.

Matthew Wishengrad filed suit on March 9 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Orlando Division, claiming that defendants Pineapple Point of Cocoa Beach Inc. and Michael Hardick violated provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiff alleges that during a period of employment from January 2013 to December 2015, he did not receive the proper overtime premium or minimum wage rate.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees and costs, and pre-judgment and post-judgment interest. He is represented by Matthew R. Gunter of Morgan & Morgan, P.A. in Orlando.
