Former employee alleges Lane Valente Industries did not pay overtime wages

Time

FORT MYERS – A Lee County man has filed a suit against his former employer over claims he was not paid overtime.

Paul Barnes filed a complaint on March 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division against Lane Valente Industries Inc., alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between July 7, 2015, and Oct. 12, 2015, he did not receive overtime pay for all hours worked in excess of the 40 hours work per week. The plaintiff holds Lane Valentine Industries Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to properly compensate him at a rate of time-and-one-half of his regular rate for all hours worked on over 40 hours in a single week and failed to maintain proper time records.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for liquidated damages, attorneys' fees and costs and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Angeli Murthy of Morgan & Morgan PA in Plantation.
