TAMPA — A Pasco County woman is suing a debt collector, citing alleged violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Florida Consumer Collection Consumer Practices Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Carla Shiflett sued Credit Protection Association L.P. on March 4 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Tampa Division.

The plaintiff alleges that she has received a tremendous amount of automated telephone calls without her prior express consent. The plaintiff holds Credit Protection Association L.P. responsible because the defendant allegedly continued to call her using an automatic telephone dialing system despite twice being asked to stop.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for statutory, punitive and actual damages, attorney's fees and costs and any other relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Octavio "Tav" Gomez of Morgan & Morgan, Tampa, P.A. in Tampa.
