MIAMI — A Massachusetts woman is suing Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., claiming she was injured due to employees' negligence aboard a cruise ship.

Karen Bertalotto sued Royal Caribbean on Feb. 23 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She claims Royal Caribbean failed to properly train its employees to warn passengers of dangerous condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was aboard the ship Grandeur of the Seas on Feb. 13 when she slipped and fell on ice while walking along an outdoor passageway and suffered severe bodily injury. The plaintiff holds Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to exercise reasonable care under the circumstances for the safety of its passengers.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for damages, medical expenses, loss of earnings, loss of ability to earn money, costs for this action, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest and any further relief that the court may deem just or appropriate. She is represented by Spencer Marc Aronfeld and Christopher Bailey of Aronfeld Trial Lawyers in Coral Gables, Florida.
