MIAMI – A woman alleges her disability payments were wrongfully terminated.
Lashia Levins filed a complaint on Feb. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Aetna Life Insurance Co., citing violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she received long-term disability benefits beginning Dec. 30, 2014, but on April 28, 2015, the defendants terminated her benefits. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to reinstatement them despite appeals and de-emphasized medical evidence.
The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for unpaid long-term disability benefits, interest, attorneys' fees and costs and any other relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Edward Philip Dabdoub and Geannina Burgos of Wagar Dabdoub PA in Coral Gables.
