Former office administrator sues for alleged pay violation

Paycheck

MIAMI — A former office administrator/manager is suing an aircraft management firm, claiming the company failed to pay her properly for overtime.

Kimberely Steer is suing Gama Aviation Inc. in West Palm Beach, citing alleged unpaid overtime wages and violation of federal law.

Steer sued on Feb. 19 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida West Palm Beach Division, alleging that Gama Aviation Inc. willfully violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by classifying her as an exempt employee.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between Oct. 27, 2007, and Aug. 3, 2015, she did not receive an overtime premium. The plaintiff holds Gama Aviation Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay time and a half for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a work week.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees and costs, and any further relief that the court may find just and proper. She is represented by Joseph Odato and Dennis A. Creed of Feldman Law Group, P.A. in Tampa, Florida.
