First National Collection Bureau Inc. accused of false deception and unfair confusion

ORLANDO – An Orlando man is suing a debt collector over claims it mailed him deceptive and confusing correspondence.

Kenneth Alston filed a complaint Feb. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against First National Collection Bureau Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he incurred and defaulted on a credit card debt and that the  defendant was assigned to collect it. The plaintiff holds First National Collection Bureau Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly sent a confusing, deceptive and misleading debt collection letter in June 2015 in regards to a proposed payment plan to settle the debt.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for statutory damages, attorneys' fees and costs and any further relief that the court my deem just and proper. He is represented by Robert H. Markland, Paul R. Fowkes and Ryan C. Hasanbasic of Disparti Fowkes & Hasanbasic PA in Tampa.
