Sea cruise passenger sues cruise ship operator over alleged negligence

Cruiseship

MIAMI – A sea cruise passenger is suing a cruise ship operator alleging that it has a defective and dangerous heated massage table aboard the vessel.

Rebecca Carlson filed a lawsuit against Royal Caribbean Cruise LTD and Steiner Transocean U.S. Inc. on Feb. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida alleging she was injured on the company's property due to the negligence of its employees and that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 4, 2015, she suffered burns on her breast while undergoing a massage upon a heated table. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to maintain the massage table in safe condition and/or to warn passengers of the dangers it may cause.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for damages as allowed by law, costs of this action and any further demands. She is represented by Jay Calvert Cooper of the Law Office of Jay Calvert Cooper PA in Fort Myers.
