Sunrise Senior Living Services Inc. accused of alleged non-payment of overtime compensation

Nursing

MIAMI – A nursing assistant is suing a facility management firm over claims of unpaid wages.

Guirlene Charles Jean Baptiste filed a complaint on Feb. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Sunrise Senior Living Services Inc. alleging that the facility knowingly violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was required to work overtime without proper compensation. The plaintiff holds Sunrise Senior Living Services Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay the full and proper overtime wages of time-and-a-half rate for every hour work in excess of the 40 hour work per week.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for damages, plus interest; attorney’s fees and costs and any other remedy that the court may deem just and appropriate. She is represented by Elliot Kozolchyk of Koz Law PA in Fort Lauderdale.
