Man says cruise operator responsible for injuries

MIAMI — A New Jersey man, allegedly suffering from a traumatic brain injury that has caused his wife to hold power of attorney for him, is suing a cruise-ship line over allegations that its negligence led him to suffer severe injuries.

Joseph Repici Jr. is suing Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., a vessel operator, citing alleged failure to warn, insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries, and negligence.

Repici sued on Feb. 2 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Miami Division, alleging that Royal Caribbean knew of hazardous conditions but did not do anything to correct them.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Feb. 28, 2015, he was injured when his scooter overturned shortly after disembarking the vessel. The plaintiff holds Royal Caribbean responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate assistance on rough and uneven terrain where Repici's scooter overturned.

The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for injuries suffered, medical expenses, lost of income, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses. He is represented by Jason R. Margulies and Jacqueline Garcell of Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman, P.A. in Miami.
