Florida company sues Ideeli Inc. for patent infringement claims

Shipping

MIAMI — A Florida company is suing Ideeli Inc. over allegations of patent infringement regarding tracking and notification technologies.

Shipping and Transit LLC filed a lawsuit on Dec. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Ideeli Inc., citing direct and indirect patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff obtained a patent from the U.S. Patent Office entitled “System and Method for an Advance Notification System for Monitoring and Reporting Proximity of a Vehicle.” The plaintiff claims that the defendant, a Delaware corporation doing business principally in New York, used services that are protected by the patent involving shipment notices and order confirmation technology. Pursuant to patent laws, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant has directly and indirectly infringed on the plaintiff's patent through products, programs, applications, functions, systems and methods, and the use of tracking and notification technologies.

Shipping and Transit LLC seeks damages, prejudgment interest from the date of infringement, increased damages, attorneys' fees, a permanent injunction against the defendant prohibiting further infringement, and a trial by jury. The plaintiff is represented by Jason P. Dollard of Leslie Robert Evans & Associates in Palm Beach, Florida.
