In a dramatic turn of events, a Gulfport resident has filed a lawsuit against a prominent convenience store chain and its manager, claiming negligence after a slip-and-fall incident left him with severe injuries. Kenneth Adamson initiated the legal action on May 6, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, targeting Wawa, Inc., and its store manager Amanda Tibbs.
The complaint alleges that on April 24, 2024, Adamson visited the Wawa convenience store located at 3637 34th Street South in St. Petersburg as a customer. During his visit, he reportedly slipped on oil or a similar substance in the parking lot, resulting in significant injuries. The lawsuit claims that both Wawa and Tibbs failed to maintain safe premises for their patrons. Adamson accuses Tibbs of neglecting her duty to ensure the safety of customers by not addressing hazardous conditions like oil spills promptly. He argues that this negligence directly led to his fall and subsequent injuries which include permanent scarring and disfigurement along with various bodily injuries.
Adamson's legal team argues that both defendants had clear responsibilities to inspect and maintain their property safely for customers. They assert that neither Wawa nor Tibbs took necessary precautions such as posting warning signs or cordoning off dangerous areas despite being aware or reasonably expected to be aware of such hazards. "Failing to engage in a mode of business operation that would have facilitated the timely discovery and correction of the hazard," reads one section of the complaint directed at both defendants.
The plaintiff is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from each defendant separately for medical expenses, loss of earnings capacity, pain and suffering among other claims. Adamson's attorney emphasizes that these losses are either permanent or continuing in nature indicating long-term impacts on his quality of life.
Representing Kenneth Adamson is David M. Rosenbaum from Christopher Ligori & Associates based in Tampa, Florida. The case is identified under Case Number: 25-002376-ClI.
