A Clearwater woman is taking legal action against a prominent retail corporation and its associates, alleging negligence that led to a severe personal injury. Amy Chou filed a complaint on May 1, 2025, in the Circuit Court of Pinellas County, Florida, against Dillard's Inc., Interstate Cleaning Corporation, and Countryside Mall LLC. The lawsuit claims that these entities failed to maintain safe premises at their Clearwater location, resulting in Chou's slip and fall accident.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on June 3, 2023. On this day, Amy Chou visited the premises located at 27001 US Highway 19 N., Ste. 2096, Clearwater, Florida—a property owned and operated by Dillard's Inc., with maintenance responsibilities shared by Interstate Cleaning Corporation and Countryside Mall LLC. According to the complaint, Chou was present as a business invitee when she slipped on a liquid substance left unattended on the store floor. The plaintiff argues that the defendants had either actual or constructive knowledge of this slipping hazard but failed to address it adequately.

Chou accuses Dillard's Inc. of several negligent acts: failing to maintain safe flooring conditions, neglecting to inspect or warn about potential hazards, and inadequately training employees to manage such risks. She claims similar breaches by Countryside Mall LLC and Interstate Cleaning Corporation—entities responsible for managing and maintaining the premises where the accident occurred. The lawsuit highlights that these failures resulted in significant injuries for Chou, including pain and suffering, permanent scarring, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity, and other damages.

In her pursuit of justice, Amy Chou seeks compensatory damages exceeding $50,000 from each defendant for her injuries and related losses. She demands a jury trial to resolve her claims against Dillard's Inc., Interstate Cleaning Corporation, and Countryside Mall LLC.

Representing Amy Chou are attorneys Mark S. Roman (FBN 603831), John C. Austin (FBN 58848), and Miles H. Hickman (FBN 1002465) from Roman Austin Personal Injury Lawyers based in Clearwater. The case has been assigned Case Number: 25-002301-CI in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Pinellas County.
