In a compelling legal battle, a resident of Palm Beach County has taken action against the City of West Palm Beach, alleging negligence that led to personal injury. Quentin J. Parker filed a complaint on April 10, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, accusing the city of failing to maintain safe conditions on its sidewalks.
The case revolves around an incident that occurred on March 6, 2022, when Parker was jogging near the intersection of Presidio Place and Executive Center Drive in West Palm Beach. According to the complaint, Parker tripped over uneven sidewalk slabs and sustained significant injuries. The lawsuit claims that the City of West Palm Beach was aware or should have been aware of this hazardous condition but failed to address it. "The Defendant negligently maintained the area by allowing the hazardous condition...to exist," reads the complaint.
Parker's allegations against the city include several acts of negligence: failure to maintain a safe environment, lack of warning signs for dangerous conditions, improper training for employees regarding safety hazards, and inadequate maintenance practices. As a result of these alleged oversights, Parker claims he suffered serious bodily harm leading to pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, and financial losses related to medical expenses and loss of earnings.
In his pursuit for justice, Parker is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of fees and costs. He demands judgment from the court for damages along with any other relief deemed appropriate by law. Additionally, Parker has requested a jury trial to resolve all triable issues under law.
