A couple in Pinellas County, Florida, is embroiled in a legal battle over what they claim is a botched roofing job that left their home unattractive and damaged. Lee and Debra Shettle filed a complaint on March 14, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit against Arry’s Roofing Services, Inc. and Eagle Roofing Products Florida LLC. The lawsuit alleges multiple breaches of contract and warranty, as well as negligence by both companies.

The Shettles' ordeal began when they contracted Arry’s Roofing Services on November 9, 2022, to replace the roof of their home using tiles manufactured by Eagle Roofing Products. According to the complaint, the tiles were defective from the start; they faded rapidly and exhibited excessive efflorescence. Furthermore, Arry’s allegedly installed these tiles improperly, failing to prepare and finish the mortar correctly during installation. This poor workmanship reportedly led to additional property damage, including harm to stucco finishes and fascia on the Shettles' home.

Lee and Debra Shettle assert that all conditions precedent to filing this lawsuit have been satisfied or waived. They are seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for various costs incurred due to this debacle. These include expenses related to removing and replacing the roof entirely, repairing stucco and fascia damage, and conducting investigative analyses on the defective tiles. In addition to these compensatory damages, they are also asking for attorneys’ fees as stipulated in their contract with Arry’s Roofing Services.

The plaintiffs argue that Arry’s breached both express and implied warranties by failing to deliver materials fit for their intended purpose and not installing them in a workmanlike manner. They also accuse Eagle Roofing Products of breaching an express lifetime warranty that guaranteed defect-free tiles. The complaint highlights several counts against both defendants: breach of contract against Arry’s; breach of implied warranty against both Arry’s and Eagle; negligence against both companies; breach of express warranty against both defendants; breach of implied warranty of merchantability against Eagle; breach of implied warranty of fitness against Eagle.

The Shettles have retained Dogali Selvy Law P.A., with attorneys Andy Dogali and Alexis Selvy representing them in this case. They are demanding a jury trial for all issues triable by jury under Florida law.

This case is being heard under Case Number 25-001264-CI before Judge Ken Burke at the Circuit Court located in Pinellas County.
