A woman is seeking justice after a visit to a local business turned into a nightmare due to alleged negligence. On February 12, 2025, Jan Imperato filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Shalom Boca, Inc., claiming that their failure to maintain safe premises resulted in her sustaining serious injuries.
According to the complaint, Jan Imperato visited Shalom Boca's premises at 4449 NW 2nd Avenue, Boca Raton, FL on February 12, 2023. She was attending a function as a guest when she encountered what she describes as an unreasonably dangerous condition on the property. The lawsuit alleges that Shalom Boca failed in its duty to ensure the safety of its guests by not maintaining or adequately inspecting the floor and walkways for hazards. Imperato claims that these failures led to her tripping and falling due to an unlit and negligently designed door threshold and steps.
The complaint outlines several accusations against Shalom Boca. It states that they were negligent in maintaining the premises' floor and walkway, failing to inspect for slip or trip hazards, and not warning guests about potential dangers. Additionally, it accuses them of failing to correct known hazardous conditions and not using reasonable care in designing and maintaining the premises. As a result of these alleged oversights, Imperato suffered significant injuries including severe physical pain, disability, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, and loss of earning capacity.
Imperato is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from Shalom Boca for her injuries. She demands judgment for compensation covering her medical expenses and other related costs incurred due to the incident. Furthermore, she requests interest on these amounts along with any additional relief deemed necessary by the court.
Representing Jan Imperato is attorney John W. Kilpatrick III from John Kilpatrick Law PLLC based in Clermont, Florida. The case has been filed under Case Number: 502025CA001279XXXAMB.
