A Pinellas County resident has filed a lawsuit seeking damages exceeding $50,000 after an alleged incident at a local establishment. Linda Williams lodged the complaint against USRP Funding 2001-A, L.P., doing business as Miller's Ale House, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, on December 20, 2024.
According to the court documents, Linda Williams claims that on July 10, 2024, she was an invitee at Miller's Ale House located at 7901 Dr MLK Jr St N in St. Petersburg, Florida. The plaintiff alleges that while visiting the premises, she tripped over a dangerously bunched-up floor mat at the entrance/exit of the property. Williams accuses USRP Funding 2001-A, L.P., of negligence in maintaining a safe environment for patrons by failing to properly manage and inspect their floor mats. The complaint outlines several specific failures by the defendant including not adequately maintaining or inspecting the floor mat which created a tripping hazard and not warning invitees like Williams about this potential danger.
Williams argues that these omissions directly resulted in her sustaining significant personal injuries. She details suffering from bodily harm leading to pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, permanent scarring, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life. The lawsuit emphasizes that these injuries have caused ongoing medical expenses and will continue to affect her quality of life into the future.
The plaintiff is seeking judgment against USRP Funding 2001-A for damages exceeding $50,001 along with interest and costs associated with the case. Additionally, she demands a trial by jury to address all issues related to her claims.
Representing Linda Williams is attorney Ryan J. Jacobs from Morgan & Morgan P.A., based in Tampa. The case has been assigned Case Number: 24-005608-CI under Judge Ken Burke’s jurisdiction in Pinellas County Circuit Court.
