Jonathan Segal has filed a lawsuit against a popular local dining establishment, claiming negligence led to his severe injuries. The complaint was lodged by Segal on November 1, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, targeting Charlie's Sushi & Japanese Restaurant, LLC.

According to the details outlined in the case, Jonathan Segal was an invitee at Charlie's Sushi & Japanese Restaurant located at 1200 Cleveland Street in Clearwater when he slipped and fell on a wet floor on September 4, 2024. The lawsuit claims that the water on the floor was not obvious and posed a hidden danger to customers like Segal. He accuses the restaurant of failing in its duty to ensure safety by not inspecting or maintaining its premises adequately and neglecting to warn patrons about potential hazards.

Segal's complaint further elaborates that Charlie's Sushi & Japanese Restaurant had several non-delegable duties towards him as an invitee. These included reasonably inspecting common areas for unsafe conditions, maintaining public areas safely, and warning invitees of any known dangers. However, Segal alleges that the restaurant breached these duties by not implementing reasonable inspection policies and allowing unsafe conditions to persist without adequate warnings.

The lawsuit asserts that Charlie's Sushi & Japanese Restaurant either knew or should have known about the dangerous condition due to its regular occurrence and foreseeability. As a result of this alleged negligence, Segal suffered various injuries including bodily harm, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, and loss of earnings. These damages are described as permanent and continuing.

Segal is seeking judgment against Charlie's Sushi & Japanese Restaurant for damages exceeding $50,000 along with costs and post-judgment interest. He also demands a jury trial to resolve this matter.

Representing Jonathan Segal is attorney Christopher L. Hamblen from the Law Offices of Christopher L. Hamblen based in Clearwater. The case has been assigned Case Number 24-004804-CI under Judge Ken Burke.
