In the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida, Pinellas County, a lawsuit has been filed by plaintiff Lauren V. Segedin against St. Petersburg Country Club, Inc., a Florida non-profit corporation. The case, numbered 24-001493-CI and filed on April 3, 2024, seeks damages exceeding $50,000.

The plaintiff's counsel, Alexis M. Cotten and Scott R. Jeeves of Jeeves Law Group, P.A., allege that on May 7, 2023, Segedin was injured at the defendant's property due to negligent maintenance. The incident occurred when her foot got caught in a metal framing that was coming apart from its joint and raised from the floor.

The complaint further states that the defendant had a duty to maintain its premises in a safe condition and failed to remedy or warn about the dangerous condition despite having knowledge of it. As a result of this negligence, Segedin sustained serious injuries to her right foot along with other undiagnosed injuries.

Segedin is seeking judgment for damages related to physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses incurred for treatment of her injuries as well as future medical care costs. She also claims she has been rendered less able to lead and enjoy a normal life due to these injuries which are permanent in nature. She requests for trial by jury on all issues.
