Karen Thomas sues Wal-Mart Stores East for negligence leading to bodily harm

Karen Thomas has filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores East, LP in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Pinellas County, Florida. The case, bearing the number 24-001247-CI, was lodged on March 18, 2024. The plaintiff alleges negligence on part of the defendant leading to bodily harm and seeks damages exceeding $50,001.

The incident took place on October 19, 2022 at the defendant's premises located at 10237 Bay Pines Blvd. St. Petersburg, Florida. The plaintiff claims that an employee or agent of Wal-Mart negligently opened a pallet full of boxes without taking necessary precautions or setting up warning signs.

As a result of this alleged negligence, Thomas was struck by several falling boxes while shopping in an aisle. She suffered injuries leading to pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish and loss of capacity for enjoyment of life among other damages.

Thomas is seeking judgment against Wal-Mart Stores East for damages exceeding $50,001 plus costs and prejudgment interest. She also demands a trial by jury on all issues so triable. Her legal representation is provided by Daniella Rivera from Salter, Healy, Rivera & Heptner law firm.
