Camielle Cooper, a former employee of Publix Super Markets, Inc., has filed a lawsuit against the company in the Second Judicial Circuit Court of Leon County, Florida. The case ID is 24-CA-2024 CA 000469 and was filed on March 20, 2024. Cooper alleges that she was subjected to discriminatory treatment due to her race and disability and was wrongfully terminated from her position as a Beverage Server.

Cooper began working for Publix in September 2019 and was fired on June 28, 2020. She claims that despite her excellent performance at work, she faced disparate treatment and retaliation from several managers including Jared Davis, Johnathan Sexton, and Tara Mayewski. Cooper also suffers from postpartum depression which she says the defendant was aware of since the beginning of her employment.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 under the Florida Civil Rights Act. She asserts that all conditions precedent to bringing this action have been satisfied.
