In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, plaintiff Kimberly Kolonia has filed a lawsuit against Sand Key Associates Limited Partnership, also known as Sheraton Sand Key Resort. The case, with ID 24-000981-ClI, was filed on February 29, 2024.

The plaintiff, represented by her counsel, alleges that while visiting the defendant's resort located at 1160 Gulf Blvd., Clearwater, Florida on April 30, 2022, she sustained significant injuries due to a tripping hazard. The incident occurred when Kolonia's foot caught on the leg of a recliner chair that was improperly positioned in a walkway near the pool area of the resort.

Kolonia is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from Sheraton Sand Key Resort for negligence. She asserts that the resort failed to ensure safety by improperly positioning furniture and not maintaining clear walkways in the pool area.
