In the Circuit Court of the Second Judicial Circuit in Leon County, Florida, a lawsuit has been filed by plaintiff Peter (Panagioti) Tsolkas against the Florida Department of Corrections. The case, identified as 2024 CA 000390 and filed on March 6, 2024, is aimed at enforcing the Public Records Act.

The plaintiff, represented by his counsel, accuses the defendant of refusing to produce nonexempt records related to a public protest that occurred at Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida on December 6, 2020. This refusal is alleged despite a public records request made by Tsolkas on August 10, 2023. The defendant responded stating no responsive records exist pertaining to him and others involved in the protest.

Tsolkas insists that such records do exist and their non-disclosure represents a clear violation of the Public Records Act (PRA). He seeks to compel the production of these records under Article I, Section 24 of the Florida Constitution and Florida’s PRA.
