John F. Jewell and Debra L. Roman, along with their children Paris Jewell and Bria Jewell, have filed a lawsuit against Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC; Richard A. Knipe, M.D.; Sara K. Pastman, APRN; Kirti Bhargava-Patel, M.D.; and Kirti Bhargava-Patel, M.D., P.A., in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida. The case ID is 24-001033-Cl and it was filed on March 4th, 2024.

The plaintiffs allege that the defendants provided negligent medical care resulting in damages exceeding $50,001 exclusive of interest, costs and attorney’s fees. The plaintiffs are represented by their counsel who confirmed that they have made a reasonable investigation to determine that there are grounds for a good faith belief that there was negligence in the care and treatment of John F. Jewell.

The lawsuit states that John F. Jewell presented himself as a patient to Dr. Patel on March 5th, 2021 following the recommendation of a mutual acquaintance Dr. Debra Bart. At this time he complained of feeling ill for several weeks with symptoms including low energy, swollen glands, difficulty focusing and pain in multiple joints.

The plaintiffs are seeking judgment for damages caused by alleged negligence during Mr. Jewell's treatment by the defendants.
