A deaf woman says Walmart has failed to provide interpreters for its employees.

Tammy Torres filed her lawsuit in federal court against Walmart Stores East LP.

According to the complaint, Torres applied for a cake decorating job with a Walmart store in Orange City in March 2019.

Despite requesting an American Sign Language interpreter for her interview, she was informed upon arrival that no interpreter was available. The lawsuit also notes that Walmart did not have Video Remote Interpreting services available. Instead, Torres' husband was asked to act as an interpreter despite having no formal training

The complaint alleges that Walmart violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act by failing to provide interpreters for its employees.
