A Black woman has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against FedEx.
Antwoneisha Barber filed her complaint in federal court against Federal Express Corporation.
According to the complaint, Barber was hired as a night shift package handler in March 2021. She says supervisor Claudia Lopez seemed to have issues with her almost immediately.
Barber claims she faced discriminatory treatment based on her race and color during her employment. She says Lopez routinely berated her in front of co-workers and subjected her to demeaning and unnecessary treatment. She also claims Lopez was responsible for ordering uniforms for new employees but singled out Barber for not having one despite being a new employee.
Barber says she attempted to address the mistreatment by reporting it to managers and the Human Resources department at FedEx but received no resolution. She also requested a shift change to avoid interaction with Lopez but was told to ignore her instead.
She says she was constructively terminated in November 2022.
Barber seeks compensatory damages and other relief.
