A New York man is suing Celebrity Cruises after he was injured by a champagne cork while on board.
Robert Marchetta filed his lawsuit in federal court against Celebrity Cruises Inc.
According to the complaint, Marchetta was a passenger February 2, 2023, on the Celebrity Edge. He says he was seriously and permanently injured when a champagne cork exploded through its wire cage and struck him in the face and right eye.
Marchetta accuses Celebrity of negligence for failing to store and transport champagne properly. He also claims these oversights led to the dangerous conditions that resulted in his injury.
As a result of the incident, Marchetta claims to have suffered physical pain, mental and emotional distress, medical expenses, physical handicap and loss of enjoyment of life. He seeks compensatory damages.
