A former radio reporter claims she was the victim of age discrimination.

Diane Coston filed a federal lawsuit against Southern Stone Communications of Florida.

According to the complaint, Coston says she was unlawfully terminated based on her age in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act. She says she worked for SSCOF from July 16, 2018, until January 14, 2022, most recently as a radio news and traffic reporter and news producer for SSCOF’s WNDB radio station.

The complaint says Coston is over 40 years old and suffered an adverse employment action due to her age. She also alleges she was subjected to disparate treatment based on her age, including being fired because of discrimination by SSCOF regarding her age.

The court filing also says Coston filed a Charge of Discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR) alleging age discrimination and retaliation against SSCOF on May 3, 2022.
