A man claims he wasn't properly paid by Wawa for having to review and participate in work-related group chats.
Douglas Kidd filed his complaint in federal court against Wawa alleging that the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and breached their contract.
Kidd says he worked as an assistant general manager for Wawa and was required to participate in mandatory group chats as part of his duties. He alleges he spent at least an hour per day off the clock reviewing and responding to these chats without receiving compensation.
According to Kidd, this violation occurred between May 2021 and January 26, 2023. He further states that Wawa's failure to pay him time-and-a-half when he worked more than 40 hours per week is a violation of the FLSA.
He seeks back pay, liquidated damages, attorney fees, court costs and other relief.
