The National Judicial College (NJC) celebrates the final leg of its 60th anniversary tour in Las Vegas Dec. 7 at Resorts World. Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is a major sponsor of the anniversary events.

The final event’s theme is “Las Vegas – 60 Years of Making the World a More Just Place,” and will also feature multiple panels focused on artificial intelligence (AI). Founding Shareholder of the firm’s Las Vegas office Mark G. Tratos will moderate a day-long continuing legal education program focused on AI. He will also lead an evening discussion titled “A Conversation About AI's Impact on the Legal Profession, Legal Education, and Our Courts” with panelists Leah Chan Grinvald, dean of the Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and David Freeman Engstrom, LSVF professor in law at Stanford Law School. Greenberg Traurig’s Chief Information Officer Jay A. Nogle will participate on the panel “AI Ethics in Legal Practice: Crediting ChatGPT and Billing Rate Considerations.”

“Lawyers are already using AI in a variety of ways, and courts will be the first to feel the impact of any misuse of this new technology,” Tratos said. “The NJC has developed an impressive program in line with its mission to educate judges on hot button topics they may come across in their courtrooms.”

Tratos is co-chair of the NJC’s 60th Anniversary Committee and past chair of its board of trustees. The NJC is the country’s oldest, largest, and most widely attended school for judges, educating judges from all 50 states. The categories of judges it serves, including state trial, administrative law, military, and tribal, decide more than 95% of cases in the United States. In 2023, the NJC celebrated the 60th anniversary of its founding with six special programs from coast to coast, including stops in Seattle, New York City, and Reno, Nevada.
