During the last few weeks, we’ve hosted three very informative events through our Frontiers in Law and Technology Series. This innovative series of events features academics, practitioners, and others with expertise in technology and was established through our new Institute of Law, Technology & Innovation as a vehicle to explore the science and ethics of technological advancements. On October 18, attorney Bill Dillon, who also teaches at FSU Law, and our McConnaughhay and Rissman Professor Lauren Scholz presented “An Introduction to Privacy Regulation, Litigation, and Enforcement” via Zoom. On October 27, we hosted another online event, “SEC & Cybersecurity: A Discussion of the SEC’s New Cybersecurity Rule and its Impact on Reporting Companies,” which featured attorneys Johnny Lee and Todd McClelland. Last week, on November 2, we held an in-person session in Miami, “A Conversation with Jay Clayton, Former Chairman of the SEC.” The last event was an exclusive opportunity to hear from Clayton about the past, present, and future of cryptocurrency and blockchain regulation in the United States. You can visit our website to watch recordings of all our events. Our site also includes more information about each event and the speakers, who are all recognized for their deep expertise in the areas they discussed. We appreciate them sharing their knowledge with our students and alumni and look forward to more series events, including our November 17 session, “How the Government Should Use Commercially Available Data.”
