Legal 500 Latin America’s 2024 edition has recognized global law firm Reed Smith’s strengths in the region. The latest guide has highlighted the firm’s capabilities once again in international arbitration, project finance and energy and has endorsed a number of Reed Smith lawyers as leaders in their fields. Notably, Legal 500 continues to honor international arbitration partner José Astigarraga with its Hall of Fame designation.

The guide praised the “world class service” provided by Reed Smith’s international arbitration practice and clients commented that Astigarraga was “incomparable” and “a brilliant professional with impressive experience.” Also highlighted by the publication are Reed Smith partners Felipe Berer, Sandra Millor, Edward Mullins, Francisco Rivero, Francisco Rodriguez, consultant Gilberto Guerrero-Rocca and counsel Eduardo De la Peña Bernal, who was described by clients as “exceptional” and as having “an endless capacity for work.”

Legal 500 Latin America also highlighted Reed Smith’s capabilities in project finance and energy, noting the firm’s “well developed practice in both the energy and infrastructure sectors” and its strengths regarding commodities trading matters. Partners Lee Ann Dillon and Edwin Nazario were both noted.

In addition, Reed Smith’s Latin America practice was also highlighted in the guide’s Miami and Houston city focuses, which commented on the firm’s expanding and fast-growing teams and that many of the lawyers based there are dual qualified in the US and in Latin American states. In the Houston focus, counsel William Russell, a Spanish speaker, was noted for his focus on Latin American arbitrations, particularly regarding oil, gas, construction and commercial cases.

Results for Legal 500 Latin America are compiled based on information from independent researchers. The research provides a thorough review of the strengths and capabilities of law firms working in numerous practice areas across the region.
