AmLaw 100 firm Polsinelli recently represented the Junior League of Miami, a women-led non-profit organization committed to promoting voluntarism and developing the potential of women, in the sale of its former Inn Transition North properties to an organization with a history of providing affordable housing.
Two properties, at 13030 NE 6th Avenue and 13090 NE 6th Avenue in Miami, known together as Inn Transition North, were home to the Junior League of Miami’s flagship project for more than 30 years, providing transitional housing and resources to victims of domestic violence and their children as part of a public-private partnership with Miami-Dade County. Junior League of Miami volunteers provided mentorship, life skills training and enrichment activities for the residents.
Working pro bono, Polsinelli’s Miami team, led by shareholders James Barnett and Brian Seidenberg, worked with Junior League of Miami leadership to help market the properties and evaluate various opportunities, negotiate the deal and facilitate the sale to an organization with a commitment to affordable housing.
In a statement, Carla Crossno, President of Junior League of Miami Inn Transition North and Candace Tejidor, President of Junior League of Miami, Inc., said, “We are very grateful to James Barnett, Brian Seidenberg, and their team at Polsinelli, for their advice and counsel. Their support of our Boards of Directors through every step of a complex and sensitive real estate transaction proved invaluable. The funds raised from the sale of the Inn Transition North properties will be used to further the Junior League of Miami's mission, increasing investments for years to come in community programs, student scholarships and grants to community partners."
Polsinelli has a long-standing tradition of providing pro bono legal services where the firm’s attorneys live and work, including partnerships with non-profit organizations such as Junior League of Miami. By offering outsourced business advice and legal services to these groups at no cost, Polsinelli helps them focus on what they do best: serving their communities.
“It has been a great pleasure working with the Junior League of Miami in the sale of their properties and learning more about their mission and all the good they bring to our community,” said Seidenberg. “We consider it a privilege to dedicate our time to this charitable cause and look forward to our continued partnership with them.”
Polsinelli Miami Office Managing Partner J. Everett Wilson added, “At Polsinelli, we believe in equal access to legal representation and approach our pro bono efforts with the same dedication and drive that we do for our clients. We’re proud to be able to offer our knowledge, skills and resources to the Junior League of Miami and other outstanding community organizations.”
