Litigation Shareholder and Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Officer of global law firm Greenberg TraurigNikki Lewis Simon spoke at The Florida Bar’s 2022 Volunteer Bar Leaders Boot Camp Conference. Simon presented on a panel titled “Putting Diversity on the Front Lines in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programming.” Greenberg Traurig was a sponsor of the annual meeting.
Simon, along with fellow panellists, discussed the business and moral case for striving for diversity in CLE programming. Speakers also touched on different ways that CLE programs can aim to be diverse in speakers, content, and geographical reach.
Simon is a member of The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors, as well as a past chair of its DE&I Committee and past vice chair of The Florida Bar’s Federal Court Practice Committee.
As Greenberg Traurig’s chief DE&I officer, Simon designs and guides strategic initiatives and programs to deepen firmwide diversity and inclusion efforts. Her role is indicative of, and integral to, Greenberg Traurig’s core values of collaboration and inclusion – principles that inform the firm’s operations and legal business in meaningful, positive ways. Before assuming primary responsibilities on the business side of the firm, Simon, a commercial litigator with more than two decades of experience, represents her cross-industry clients’ business objectives by protecting their capital – human, intellectual, and financial – against claims of wrongdoing in complex commercial and class action litigation. Those matters have spanned the panoply of issues and claims businesses often face, from discrimination to wrongful death, defamation to fraud and misrepresentation, professional negligence, and malpractice to breach of fiduciary duty and securities law violations.
