Seven Cozen O'Connor Attorneys Named IP Stars by Managing Intellectual Property

Seven members of Cozen O'Connor’s Intellectual Property Department, Frank Abramonte, Thomas Fisher, James Gale, Gregory Gulia, Shane Hardy, Hugh Marbury, and Camille Miller have all been named IP Stars by Managing Intellectual Property. Abramonte, Fisher, Gale, and Marbury were named Patent Stars. Hardy and Miller were named Trademark Stars. Gulia was named a Copyright Star.

Abramonte is co-chair of the firm’s Patents Prosecution Practice and focuses on patent procurement and patent portfolio strategizing in electrical, software, electro-mechanical engineering, and medical device related technologies. In addition, he provides services in licensing, diligence exercises, and validity and infringement studies and opinions, as well as related litigation counseling. He counsels a range of businesses from established public companies through early and late stage startup businesses.

Fisher focuses his practice on complex electrical, mechanical, and computer software patent litigation. He is an experienced first-chair attorney with extensive experience in the federal district courts, in § 337 proceedings before the International Trade Commission (ITC), in post grant review proceedings including AIA proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and in appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Gale is co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice and focuses his practice in the area of intellectual property litigation. He is a registered patent attorney with 39 years of experience. He has successfully handled hundreds of cases involving patents, theft of trade secrets, restrictive covenants, trademarks, unfair competition, and internet disputes. He has appeared in over 400 federal cases in more than 48 federal district and circuit courts, as well as handled hundreds of injunctions in over 35 different states around the nation.

Gulia has counseled clients concerning a broad range of intellectual property issues, negotiated trademark licenses, purchases, and consent agreements, and litigated numerous trademark, copyright, anti-counterfeiting, domain name, unfair competition, trade secrets, rights of publicity and privacy, and First Amendment cases for various major media corporations, entertainers, luxury-goods makers, fashion companies, international store chains, and consumer products companies.

Hardy is the chair of the firm’s Canadian Intellectual Property Practice and is a strategic business adviser who has assisted in the acquisition, licensing, and marketing of some of the world’s most famous trademarks and IP assets. He is one of a select few Canadian practitioners recognized for his experience in commercial transactions regarding intellectual property assets and is frequently called upon by brand owners around the world to assist with their international acquisition and licensing plans. He has assisted clients with dozens of cross-border acquisitions where target entities have an intellectual property focus.

Marbury is co-chair of the firm’s Copyright Practice and focuses his practice on intellectual property and business litigation. His intellectual property litigation practice includes patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation in diverse technological areas across many industries. He is also a member of American Law Institute drafting the Restatement of Law Copyright.  His business litigation practice focuses on complex financial transactions and commercial disputes across multiple sectors. He has more than two and a half decades of experience utilizing his considerable knowledge to counsel clients in a wide variety of industries on critical challenges facing their businesses. He has been an IP Star since Managing IP’s inception.

Miller is co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and concentrates her practice in all aspects of intellectual property, specifically trademark, trade dress, copyright, unfair competition, cyber security and data breaches, right of privacy, right of publicity, domain names, counterfeiting, and licensing, as well as all areas of intellectual property litigation.
