ORLANDO (Legal Newsline) - The militant left-wing in the United States has become the enemy within, according to Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott.
“A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has first destroyed itself from within,” said Scott, in quoting Russian-American writer Ariel Durant “Today, we face the greatest danger we have ever faced. The militant left has now seized control of our economy, our culture, and our country. When you turn on the news at night, do you recognize the country you see? Are you worried about your family? Are you worried for your freedoms?”
Scott was among featured speakers at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Feb. 26 in Orlando.
“The woke left now controls the Democratic party, the entire federal government, the news media, academia, Big Tech, Hollywood, most corporate boardrooms and now even some of our top military leaders,” he told a packed auditorium. “They are working to redefine America, silence their opponents and that means you.”
He also predicted that anyone speaking up against woke politics in the future will continue to be canceled if Republicans do not win back the Senate Majority.
“The militant left is the modern-day version of book burners,” Scott said. “These are the most narrow-minded people our country has ever seen and they are remarkably ignorant of both world history and American history.”
While most of the audience members cheered him on, there were some hecklers who were confrontational during Scott’s speech.
“You’re a senator," one man yelled out. "What are you going to do about it?"
Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, was approached by former President Trump to replace Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as the leader of the Senate Republican Caucus, according to media reports.
“They are destroying just about everything they touch and they've got their hands on everything,” Scott said about the left. “Here's what they're trying to destroy: American history, patriotism, border security, gender, traditional morality, capitalism, fiscal responsibility. Opportunity, individualism, Judeo-Christian values, free speech, law enforcement, religious liberty, parental involvement in schools, and private ownership of firearms.”
During his 17-minute speech Scott promoted his 11-steps to rescue the nation called My Plan to Rescue America.
“The plan calls for every child in every school to say the Pledge of Allegiance, to stand for the National Anthem and learn that America is the greatest country in this world,” he said. “The plan calls for a complete end to racial politics. We're going to stop the government from asking anyone what their race or skin color is on any government form. Each of us is made in the image of God. To judge a person on the color of their skin is absolutely immoral. The plan says we will treat socialism as a foreign adversary, and we'll use all forces to stop it from destroying this great country.”
