Tallahassee sued after cyclist wrecks

TALLAHASSEE -- A cyclist is suing the City of Tallahassee after a broken highway section allegedly caused him to crash and become injured. 

Van Griffin filed a lawsuit on Jan. 19 in the Leon County Circuit Court against the City of Tallahassee for personal injury.

According to the lawsuit, Griffin was a bicyclist on city property when his bicycle hit a broken part of the highway, causing him to wreck and suffer injury. Griffin claims that the city was responsible for maintaining its roadways to prevent hazardous conditions and failed to do so. 

Griffin was caused to suffer pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity to enjoy life, hospital, medical and nursing care expenses, loss of the ability to earn money and aggravation of a pre-existing condition.
