Jackson Lewis issued the following announcement on Nov. 18.

Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Reynaldo Velazquez has joined the firm’s Miami office as a principal. Reynaldo has more than 20 years of experience in all areas of labor and employment litigation.

“Reynaldo is a skillful litigator who brings substantive experience representing companies across a wide range of industries, including hospitality and healthcare,” said Nadine C. Adler-Paindiris, co-chairs of the firm’s Litigation group, in a joint statement. “His ability to develop highly effective litigation strategies involving workplace law matters will be of great benefit to our clients.”

Reynaldo works with claims management companies and employment practices liability insurance companies to defend employers against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. He is a seasoned litigator who works with various industries including fire departments, hospice care facilities, and many other private and public sector entities.

Reynaldo devotes a significant portion of his litigation practice to defending wage and hour issues arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state minimum wage laws.  He regularly represents companies in wage and hour matters, including litigation defense, overtime exemption analysis, minimum wage issues, and Department of Labor investigations.  Although Reynaldo represents a broad range of clients in a variety of industries, his wage and hour practice is highly concentrated in handling complex issues on behalf of hospitality companies.

Reynaldo also represents employers in other labor and employment matters, including collective bargaining, union organizing drives, employment litigation, and government agency investigations. Earlier in his career, he served as the labor attorney for Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the City of Lake Worth, Florida.

“Reynaldo has represented many prominent employers headquartered in Florida and his broad experience will be highly valuable to our local clients,” said Office Managing Principal Pedro Jaime Torres-Díaz. “He is a highly respected and accomplished labor and employment litigator, and a key addition to our growing roster of attorneys in Miami.”

Reynaldo earned his J.D. and B.A. from Florida State University.
