Greenberg Traurig issued the following announcement on Oct. 25.

Jaret L. Davis, co-managing shareholder of the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been recognized by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) South Florida Council with the Whitney M. Young Award, which honors respected community leaders and organizations for their service and support of the community.

The BSA South Florida Council, which is the local affiliate for Boy Scouts of America, serves thousands of youth in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties, with 200 collaborative partners, and over 2,000 adult volunteers.

“I am thankful to the Boy Scouts for playing a role in making me the man and leader I am today, and I thank the South Florida Council for this tremendous honor,” Davis said. “This award is significant for me because scouting was not just an important part of my childhood, it truly represents everything I believe in – being about something greater than oneself, investing in one’s community, friends, and family, and striving to be the best one can be.”

The Hispanic Heritage & Whitney M. Young Awards were presented virtually. The awards are also a fundraiser to help support the BSA South Florida Council’s outreach programs that bring the benefits of scouting to over 3,000 underprivileged youth annually in economically challenged communities.

“Times change, but the values ingrained in scouting will never change. They are central to who we are and how we treat each other, our communities, and our planet,” Davis added.

Davis oversees approximately 170 attorneys and 200 business staff as co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, a position he has held for more than a decade. Davis focuses his corporate and securities practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and large financings.

In addition to his practice, Davis serves in several civic capacities that allow him to give back to the community. He is the co-founder and general counsel of the eMerge Americas global technology conference, serves as chairman of the board of directors of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, serves on the board of directors for City National Bank, and is the community representative director of The Adrienne Arsht Center Trust. Davis is past chair of The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County’s official economic development organization.
