Former Florida Solicitor General Amit Agarwal Joins Holland & Knight

Holland & Knight issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.

Amit Agarwal, Florida's solicitor general from 2016 to 2021, has joined Holland & Knight as a partner in the firm's Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee, Fla. offices. At Holland & Knight, Mr. Agarwal will focus on federal and state appellate litigation, complex and high-stakes issues, and government and internal investigations.

"Amit is a brilliant lawyer and advocate whose impressive achievements in the public sector bode well for success in private practice at Holland & Knight," said Christopher G. Kelly, leader of Holland & Knight's Litigation Section. "He will, without question, be an incredible asset to Holland & Knight's Litigation Section and clients, as well as the firm's regulatory and government affairs practices, which are well known in Washington, D.C., and across the country."

As Florida's solicitor general, Mr. Agarwal oversaw civil and criminal appeals involving the state's interests in all state and federal appellate courts. Prior to becoming solicitor general, Mr. Agarwal was deputy chief of the Appellate Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. He also served as a law clerk for Justice Samuel Alito at the U.S. Supreme Court and as an attorney advisor in the Office of Legal Counsel of the U.S. Department of Justice. Additionally, Mr. Agarwal worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Brett Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the Honorable Edward Becker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia.

Wifredo "Willy" Ferrer, chair of Holland & Knight's Global Compliance and Investigations Team and executive partner of the firm's Miami office, worked with Mr. Agarwal at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida.
