Morgan Lewis issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.
Morgan Lewis partners Alison Tanchyk and John Crespo begin their tenure as co-chairs of the Juncadella Corporate Counsel Group (JCCG), an informal organization of 300-plus, South Florida-based in-house counsel who primarily advise companies with business interests in Latin America and the Caribbean.
JCCG was founded by former Morgan Lewis international consultant Salvador Juncadella in 1992. The principal purpose of the group is to provide corporate counsel with strategic opportunities for relationship-building, networking, sharing of best practices, and career advancement among members. In addition to Alison and John’s leadership, the firm supports the group by hosting a majority of its regular programming in partnership with the University of Miami School of Law, including the upcoming 12th Bi-Annual Seminar for in-house counsel working in the Americas scheduled for February 17, 2021.
Alison handles government and internal investigations, complex civil litigation, and compliance and regulatory matters for companies around the world, including in Latin America, with an emphasis on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, fraud, and antitrust matters. Alison is frequently recognized by Latinvex as one of Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers.
John has a broad-based transactional practice that includes extensive experience in domestic and international transactions, including the formation and structuring of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, privatizations, development of infrastructure projects, and general corporate and contract matters. A native of Bolivia, he serves as co-chair of the Morgan Lewis Latin America practice. John is regularly ranked by the Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global, and Legal 500 Latin America guides.
The firm’s key practices throughout Latin America include energy, telecommunications, project development, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, and financial restructuring. We also have strong capabilities across industries in tax, regulatory, investment management, real estate, labor and employment, litigation, and international arbitration, among other areas. Many of these practices are routinely ranked as leading practices in the region by Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500 Latin America, Latinvex, Latin Lawyer, and other publications.
Morgan Lewis recently welcomed partner Sergio Oehninger who counsels corporate clients doing business in Latin America on cross-border insurance exposures and risk transfers in connection with key transactions, projects, operations, products, and services.
