Fox Rothschild LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome Vijay S. Choksi to the West Palm Beach office as counsel in the Corporate and Cannabis Law Practice Groups.

“As the former general counsel to one of Florida's leading vertically integrated medical marijuana companies, Vijay understands the impact that ever-developing state and federal cannabis regulations can have on business operations,” said Robert J. Sacco, Managing Partner of the firm’s West Palm Beach office. “He will be a tremendous asset to our clients operating in this emerging market.”

Choksi handles the commercial and regulatory needs of clients in the medical and adult-use marijuana industries and possesses detailed knowledge of the laws that govern the legal cannabis, health care and CBD sectors. He is also well-versed in corporate matters and has negotiated contracts governing nearly all aspects of the business, including security, lab testing, business associate relationships and commercial leases.

Choksi’s broad experience includes handling privacy and risk management issues, securing use variances with the Department of Health Office of Medical Marijuana Use and developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with a broad spectrum of state and federal regulations, including HIPAA, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Food Drug and Cosmetics Act (FDCA), OSHA regulations and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).

Prior to joining Fox, Choksi was General Counsel and Senior Director of Compliance for GrowHealthy, a Florida-based medical marijuana provider. He has also founded and led his own health care law and advisory practice and served as Lead Regulated Substances Attorney at a national law firm.

He earned his J.D. from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law and B.S. from the University of Central Florida.
