Allegiant Air sparring with former employee over race and age discrimination allegations

FORT MYERS - An airline wants to defend an employment discrimination accusation from a Charlotte County woman in federal court.

Plaintiff Rohini Singh filed the complaint on February 26 in the Charlotte County Circuit Court and defendant Allegiant Air LLC removed the complaint to federal court on April 9.

Singh worked as general manager at the defendant's Punta Gorda location until 2018. She says that her superiors discriminated against her for her national origin, age and race, including making derogatory comments about her accent and demanding to know when she retired.

Despite allegedly reporting the disparate treatment to the defendant's leadership, Singh says that nothing was done to correct her supervisor's behavior.

Singh says that she was suspended and then terminated after more than 10 years with the company in retaliation to her complaints.

The defendant is charged with violating the Florida Civil Rights Act through national origin, age, race and discrimination, as well as retaliation.

Singh is represented by Florin Roebig PA of Palm Harbor.
