Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP issued the following announcement on Apr. 21.
Miami associate Valentín I. Arenas has been appointed chair of the Hispanic National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (HNBA-YLD) for Region VIII. He will be leading HNBA-YLD's efforts throughout the entire state of Florida for the 2021-2022 term.
Arenas has been a member of the HNBA since 2014 and has been actively involved with its Mentorship Program since graduating law school. During his term as chair, Arenas hopes to extend the HNBA-YLD’s visibility and footprint beyond South Florida into other major markets in the state. Membership in the HNBA-YLD is open to HNBA members under 36 years of age or admitted to practice for five years or less.
The HNBA represents the interests of Hispanic legal professionals in the U.S. and its territories, and is committed to advocacy on issues important to the 58 million people of Hispanic heritage living in the U.S. The HNBA-YLD's stated focus is to encourage young lawyers to work together on projects for their community and their profession and to address the needs and interests of newly admitted attorneys.
Aside from his involvement with the HNBA, Arenas volunteers with United Way of Miami-Dade and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. He also graduated from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami Program in 2020. In his everyday practice, Arenas represents start-up, emerging growth, and public companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, project financings, fund formation, joint ventures, capital raises, strategic investments and alliances, and corporate restructuring in the energy and infrastructure, telecommunications, technology, and manufacturing industries.
