Lawsuit: Miami public official demanded sexual favors from subordinate

Lawsuits

The City of Miami and the Miami Solid Waste Department Director Mario F. Nunez face accusations of civil rights violations in a federal lawsuit.

According to the complaint filed on April14 in the Southern District of Florida, plaintiff Michelle Glenn is a 38-year old Black woman who was hired as the administrative services manager for the Solid Waste Department in 2015.

Glenn alleges that Nunez created a hostile work environment, refusing to cooperate with her for job tasks, slandered her and spread rumors.

After a year of workplace hostility Glenn says that Nunez began sexual harassment, including unwanted sexual advances, groping and demanding sexual favors in return for cooperation on daily job tasks and a job promotion.

The defendants are accused of sex discrimination, entity liability, violation of the Florida Constitution, hostile work environment, sexual harassment, gender discrimination, retaliation, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Glenn is represented by the Derek Smith Law Group LLC of Miami.
