Class action seeks $1,000 for visitors to NortonLifeLock website

Scott Edelsberg for the plaintiff

JACKSONVILLE - NortonLifeLock Inc. faces a class action lawsuit for allegedly violating the Florida Security of Communications Act.

According to documents filed earlier this year in Duval County Circuit Court, the defendant wrongfully intercepted, tracked, recorded and stored the activity and data of visitors to their website.

Class representative, plaintiff Lauren Holden, says she visited the defendant's website about 20 times over the past year. During that time, she accuses Norton of using "session replay" software, which tracks a website visitor's mouse clicks, page views, information inputted and date/time of website visits without consent.

Each Florida resident who also has experienced this alleged breach of privacy from the defendant is entitled to up to $1,000 in damages, lawyers claim.

The class is represented by: Shamis and Gentile PA of Miami, Edelsberg Law PA of Aventura and Hiraldo PA of Fort Lauderdale.

The defendant removed the case to federal court earlier this month.
